The History of Union Metal Streetscape Lighting
In the early 20th century, Union Metal supplied over 4,400 American towns
and cities with their first electric light poles and streetscape lighting.
Many of the original installations are still in service today, and
we are still manufacturing these same original historical families
of lamp posts years after Union Metal's first ornamental lamp post installation.
Historical Archive
Our Historical Archive contains records of many of our installations
throughout the 1900's. This archive of original drawings and installation
photographs showcases Union Metal's rich history and extensive experience
in streetscape lighting. Available to city planners, Main Street
groups, and historical societies as a reference source in their planning
of renovation projects, the Historical Archive is an invaluable tool
to the preservation of downtown areas and main streets. Let us preserve
your city's heritage by identifying and recreating the lamp posts
installed in your city and complement your lighting installation
with our matching ornamental traffic poles.
Contact us to look up your city's streetscape lighting heritage and we will
supply you with an original drawing or photo of the poles installed
in your town for the period of 1906-1930. Additionally, browse our
photo gallery to view photos of Union Metal installations throughout the
past century. You can also learn more about our vast array of products, including:
