PRESS RELEASE – August, 2006

UMC 100th Year Anniversary Public Dedication – August 15, 2006

Final plans are made for Union Metals 100th Anniversary dedication ceremonies to be held at 12:30 pm in front of our headquarters at 1432 Maple Avenue NE, Canton, OH.

A number of important and appropriate guests will make up the 160 invitees in attendance and several will be making presentations representing their constituencies. Of special interest will be the attendance of our most elderly retirees and two granddaughters of the initiators of the company.

The Union Metal employees have constructed several commemorative items for this event, such as an archway, traffic pole, and light bollards. Additionally, a plague with the following inscription is mounted in a new park-like setting near the headquarters building entrance.

“This plaque is dedicated to the founders and past employees of Union Metal by the current employees of Union Metal Corporation, in recognition of their talents and efforts on behalf of the Company over its 100 year history.”

In addition to myself, the following presenters will be in attendance:

  • Frank Lavin—Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade
  • Janet Creighton —Mayor of City Canton
  • Kirk Schuring— Senator, State of Ohio
  • William Burga—President, Ohio AFL-CIO
  • Bob Hetzel—President, Kenilworth Steel—Our Supplier
  • Sam Dominick—President, Traffic Systems Technology—Our Distributor
  • Anne Barrick Clark Coen – Professor at Malone College, Great Granddaughter of Christopher Columbus Barrick, founder of the Union Metal Post Company

Following the formal presentations, a reception and facility tours will take place.
